This Won't end Well for Germany

Obama divided us from within by passing health care reform legislation?

How about by DESTROYING our health care system (the best in the world at the time), running roughshod over the will of at least one-half the population in the process?

So now, having dealt with this nonsense for over a decade, the health care system is MORE byzantine, MORE expensive, and full-time jobs are many FEWER because of the disincentive created by forcing employers to provide expensive "Obamacare" to "full-time" employees. And who was hurt the worst? You got it. The poorest and least educated Americans, who now have virtually no chance of getting a full-time job.

Keep it coming, I have all the answers to enlighten your ignorance. ;)

Does it worry anybody here that Putin is doing this for domestic political purposes? And as his certain victory is celebrated and has popularity goes up does anybody here think he will be content with Ukraine? He wants the Soviet empire back. A unified response from the West now could stop this soon to be genocide from happening.

NO. HE. DOESN'T. You are drinking too deeply from the "Deep State/MSM Poison Well", my friend.

"Some have argued that, since the United States did not invade Ukraine, it abided by its Budapest Memorandum commitments. True, in a narrow sense. However, when negotiating the security assurances, U.S. officials told their Ukrainian counterparts that, were Russia to violate them, the United States would take a strong interest and respond.

Washington did not promise unlimited support. The Budapest Memorandum contains security “assurances,” not “guarantees.” Guarantees would have implied a commitment of American military force, which NATO members have. U.S. officials made clear that was not on offer. Hence, assurances." (From a Brookings Institute analysis - "Why care about Ukraine and the Budapest Memorandum, Steven PIfer, December 5, 2019)

I really loved my premiums going up over 300%. Subsidies based on gross income. So if you have a business that had $200,000 income with $190,000 in expenses you would not qualify. What about lower income individuals that gamble. If they report their winning sessions correctly despite losing overall that counts against their gross too to cancel out subsidies.

My wife and I having been on private health insurance our entire lives I am quite familiar with the process. I'm also familiar with what happens to people with pre-existing conditions. The only Republican solution revolved around "high risk pools" which would raise your premiums by an amount that would've bankrupted many people. Since Obama was going to be so despised for trying to provide healthcare to the poor he should of declared all private healthcare systems as "nonprofits" like China recently did.

The situation that you describe above is what kept me on private health insurance my entire life, I'm sorry that your premiums went up and hope that you receive better health insurance as a result. A CPA once explained to me that if you put all your gambling expenses (including lost wagers) on one credit card and kept good receipts then you could deduct those expenses against your winnings. Never gambled enough to check into something like that but it made sense. You didn't hear that from me.

You can deduct your losses against your winnings. The problem is for the ACA subsidies it is based on your gross. So even if you deduct off all your wins they still count against you getting subsidies. It should of been against net income. You could make the argument if they can afford to gamble then they don't need subsidies, but many in lower income brackets do, and you could then make the case against lifestyle choices like drugs, alcohol, and smoking.

I agree with your post right up until the "Sin Tax" proposal. If you're going to tax people for using drugs alcohol and smoking because it's bad for their health then you have to tax people for eating sweets and not exercising as well. Lots of people that "shriek" how they want the government out of our lives absolutely love "sin taxes" and the former Texas governor Rick Perry even proposed a tax on strippers. It was referred to as the "pole tax" and everybody snickered while voting it down except the hard-core evangelical block. Evangelicals like to refer to themselves as such to separate themselves from normal, run-of-the-mill Christians as they are 100% Pro Trump and proud of it.

" In 2018, U.S. health care costs were $3.6 trillion. That makes health care one of the country's largest industries. It equals 17.7% of gross domestic product.1 In comparison, health care cost $27.2 billion in 1960, just 5% of GDP.2 That translates to an annual health care cost of $11,172 per person in 2018 versus just $147 per person in 1960. Health care costs have risen faster than the median annual income." summary from https://www.thebalance.com/causes-of-rising-healthcare-costs-4064878 an interesting read if you have the time.
