This Won't end Well for Germany

So, the consensus on this thread seems to be that our alliances are a total waste of time and money. How much of the defense budget can we do without then? Would you cut Army, Navy, Air Force budgets and simply roll over for aggressors? Countries have forged alliances throughout history because they are stronger with them, would you let Russia take over Canada simply because they appear to have become "woke"? What countries besides Russia, China and North Korea do the authoritarians on this thread recommend we model our society after?
Nobody wants France we should have handed them to Stalin :)

We should've let Patton do what he wanted to do with Stalin while we had the Army in Europe and a monopoly on the A-bomb to do it with – he said we would end up having to fight them eventually.

The United States must do more than issue ultimatums about sanctions and economic penalties. U.S. leaders should be marshalling an international coalition of the willing, readying military forces to deter Putin and, if necessary, prepare for war.

If Russia prevails again, we will remain stuck in a crisis not just over Ukraine but about the future of the global order far beyond that country’s borders. Left unrestrained, Putin will move swiftly, grab some land, consolidate his gains, and set his sights on the next satellite state in his long game to restore all the pre-1991 borders: the sphere of geographical influence he deems was unjustly stripped from Great Russia.

The world will watch our response. Any subsequent acceptance of Russian gains will spell the beginning of the end of the international order. If Europe, NATO, and its allies in Asia and elsewhere fail to defend the foundational United Nations principles of sanctity of borders and state sovereignty, no one will. Any appeasement will only beget future land grabs not only from Putin, but also from China in Taiwan and elsewhere. And if the world’s democracies lack the political will to stop them, the rules-based international order will collapse. The United Nations will go the way of the League of Nations. We will revert to spheres of global influence, unbridled military and economic competition, and ultimately, world war.

That is absolutely insane.

Mike, i just feel so hexy right now. You opened a little. Lets fix the world. Find synthesis.

Micheal, you like to joust... A sporting man.... Your very interesting.
And you are also very interesting after midnight when the galaxies are aligned and you are achieving synergy with the universe. And I know what "hexy" means by the way, I've been following your observations on the "Crypto thread" as well…

So "conservative nationalists" are content to watch Russian tanks roll across Europe? What exactly is the difference between "conservative nationalists" and the political parties responsible for starting World War II if you don't mind me asking?

The term "conservative nationalist" can represent many different kinds of political theory and far more sets of policy formulations. It does probably mean one thing above all others - and that is that the party puts priority on taking care of its own citizens over those in other nations. Russia does want to be a world power as it was in the past. So do a lot of countries, including the US.

"Communism" is an ideology and there is an international Communist Party. Any Communist Party is probably tied with the international organization and supports the spread of the Communist ideology across the planet.

"Nationalism" is branded by country and is therefore restricted, more or less, to one country. Nationalism is self-interest, and that is not necessarily a bad thing at all, as long as other countries sovereignty is respected.

As far as the Ukraine goes, we can't go around fighting wars every time some state wants to secede from some country. For most of the past 100 years, the Ukraine has been part and parcel of Russia. Let the Europeans deal with the problem, because they are somewhat more versed in the issues. The Ukraine, by the way, may be said to have some deep-seated problems - to the extent that at the present NATO would not admit them. So, add that to everything else. They do have problems.

Do you own research on what policies the current Conservative Nationalist party of Russia represents. I can assure you they will be quite different from other such parties from different times and in different countries.
