Does ANSI require the stairways be on sketch for a residential property. Thanks for the info.

Why would you not show where the stairs were located ? All the software programs even have stair lables you can use :)

Since the stairway between two living areas (I.e., between 1st floor and second floor is included into the 2 nd floor living area, then yes.

I was asking if ANSI requires it. Thanks

ANZI is a guideline only and anything can be added to it. I would download the ANZI PDF Guide and read the section on stair cases.

ANSI does not require that your sketch illustrate stairways. ANSI doesn't require a sketch at all. ANSI is a standard for measuring and calculating the area of a dwelling.

ANSI seem to only be about measuring not about what has to be shown or reported on an appraisal sketch. Any thought where I might info on what the sketch must show in addition for the measurements showing. Thanks

Thank you. That was what I thought but have an underwriter claiming otherwise. I appreciate your input.

no. the stairs, doors, walls do not have to be on any normal fannie, FHA sketch.
they apparently have to be with the separate inspection. but then that sketch isn't ansi measurement needed requirement, on the bifuccated order
anything you want more to show on your sketch is your option.
underwriter can ask for whatever they want, even it being wrong, or stupid. not sure, but you have to find fannie saying what ansi is, to change that mind.

Wrong!!! You both got it totally wrong. You don't even understand standards. Neither of you.

If we ask if some standard X requires Y, it is understood that we are asking if that standard requires Y for conformance. You could also ask if X requires Y under conditions Z. But without the stipulation of special conditions, the question is whether X requires Y under ANY conditions.

The ANSI standard has NUMEROUS statements on stairs, such as sections 3.5-3.8, numerous diagrams of how to display stairs in its figures. If you are to include the stair area in the finished area, and that is usually calculated via CAD from the drawings - you will include that as necessary support for your calculations. -- IN ORDER TO SATISFY THE STANDARD.

DW has a problem here. [ But geneally speaking most I am sure appreciate his conributions. ]
