'These top five things can keep you out of health risks for a long, long time,' the doctor said.

In a now-viral video, he advised to quit smoking, eat healthy foods and exercise regularly, cut out processed meats, practice safe sex, and wear sunscreen daily.

Dr. Tirgari's number one suggestion to prevent cancer is to cut out smoking of any kind.

He advised to quit smoking cigarettes, vapes or even hookah as it's terrible for your lungs and can cause irreversible damage.

It also shouldn't come as a surprise that eating healthy food and exercising regularly were second on the list.

Next, Dr Tirgari recommended avoiding processed meats - such as ham and bacon - at all costs.

'We all know the risk of HIV but did you know that hepatitis and HPV are also associated with unsafe sexual practices?' Dr Tirgari continued.

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world and more than two in three Aussies will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime, according to Sun Smart.

Hmmm.. curing is what we did forever and smoking is great too. A hot dog or spam is processed I don't agree with that at all. And people have about 4 billion heart beats if you're lean and eating right no amount of exercise will prolong your life greatly. Lastly men don't wear sunscreen that's for sissies

Those were factors which could increased your lifespan. I'd known an appraiser who got skin cancer. Catch it early and could prevent from getting worse.
Why not just put sunscreen on. I tried many and I found one which blends well into my skin and also a moisturizer. Got to look young and not wrinkly.

I know an old guy who ate red-eye gravy and ham for breakfast every day, smoked a pack of cigarettes and lived to be 94. And my health conscious seventh day advent buddy was a vegetarian but died of heart attack at age 65 and his son was felled by a heart attack at age 32, disabled for the rest of his life. Your genetics plays a major part in your health.

Because most sunscreens contain hormone disrupting compounds, which cause other problems. Go for more natural options if possible. They also reduces your vitamin d absorption which is critical to all around health. Or get a tan, which is natures sunscreen

Humans don't live very well without the sun. The key is to get adequate full spectrum sun exposure, but avoid getting burned. Burning is what causes skin damage and cancer.

Also maybe don't take advice from a liposuction surgeon

Or get a tan, which is natures sunscreen......

Burning is what causes skin damage and cancer.
To quote my dermatologist, "There is no such thing as a healthy tan." A tan is the body's reaction to the damage caused by UV rays. A tan does not protect you from damage.

And burning is the body's method of telling you to protect yourself from the sun, not necessarily the cause of cancer, although repeated burning will contribute to it, the same as tanning.

I use a product consisting of ku ki nut oil and coffee. Gives a nice tanned appearance, is a nice moisturizer and doesn't have hormone disrupting or chemical compounds like the cheap stuff you get at the drug store. It is also important you don't wear clothing laced with forever chemicals.

"There is no such thing as a healthy tan."

"Most people's skin darkens when exposed to UV light, giving them more protection when it is needed. This is the physiological purpose of sun tanning. Dark-skinned people, who produce more skin-protecting eumelanin, have a greater protection against sunburn and the development of melanoma, a potentially deadly form of skin cancer, as well as other health problems related to exposure to strong solar radiation, including the photodegradation of certain vitamins such as riboflavins, carotenoids, tocopherol, and folate.[68]"

"There’s really no way to tan safely. Even if some of us like to think of tanned skin as healthy, it’s a sign of skin damage."

OSU? Could you find a whiter university to talk about melanin?

Black people are far less likely to develop melanoma than non-Hispanic White people (at a rate of 1 per 100,000 compared to 30 per 100,000) due to the protection that melanin, the body’s natural skin pigment, provides from damaging ultraviolet rays.

Seriously tho, we cannot live without the sun, even with vitamin D supplementation. The number of ailments that arise from lack of sunlight can be just as bad or worse than skin cancer and much worse in developing children.

We've coexisted and evolved with the sun for thousands of years, do you really think the medical industry figured it all out in the last 30 years?

"After years of debate about whether antioxidants could indeed spell the difference between someone developing or not developing skin cancer, recent research has tipped the scales in their favor. More dermatologists than ever now advise patients to feast on foods high in these nutrients. Many also suggest applying topical products containing them, including sunscreens.

While both foods and supplements can aid in disease prevention, most nutritionists stress foods, since the interaction between different nutrients in foods is what makes them most effective. Taking individual vitamin supplements may not work the same way, and high doses of them may be toxic. Vitamins C, E and A, zinc, selenium, beta carotene (carotenoids), omega-3 fatty acids, lycopene and polyphenols are among the antioxidants many dermatologists recommend including in your diet to help prevent skin cancer. You can find them in many everyday nourishing whole foods."

Respect the sun, don't fear it......and get your antioxidants.
