Someone just closed down the 'Cindy Chance' thread. Was that the AI, Jim Amorin or Cindy Chance?
Criticism is exactly what we need in the profession!
Anyway, here are my comments I was about to post on the previous "Cindy Chance" thread:
Despite Amorin's intellectual limitations, he does make some good points. In particular, concerning the dumbing down of educational standards. That needs to be reversed.
I would add, that despite Cindy Chance's pro residential-appraisal rhetoric, she lacks critical knowledge of appraisal and the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) skills needed for a leadership position in modern-day appraisal. I would question her demeanor interacting with other employees at the AI per Glassdoor.com comments and reviews.
Of course, with a degree from Oxford and Georgetown, she should be quite smart. And we should imagine she would be highly capable of getting along with the rest of the SWAMP leadership in Washington DC. - BUT that is not what is needed. We need so much more than that. She is over-qualified as a politician, and HIGHLY under-qualified as an advanced appraiser. She is by no means what you would call a "super-appraiser."
For residential appraisers to worship her because of what she says is asking for trouble. Do you think she would, or rather could, get rid of AMCs? To get rid of AMCs, you would have to navigate a sea of regulations and find something to replace the AMCs with. Cindy would be nothing more than a bag full of air in that latter respect. She wouldn't know WTF she was talking about.
So, there! That's it. No wishy-washy. Amorin is certainly too incompetent to do the job. So is Cindy Chance. - But of course, anyone who is smart enough to know what to do and do it, also knows that it will be an extremely difficult and drawn-out process, fraught with obstructions, risk, and stress.
