Someone just closed down the 'Cindy Chance' thread. Was that the AI, Jim Amorin or Cindy Chance?

Criticism is exactly what we need in the profession!

Anyway, here are my comments I was about to post on the previous "Cindy Chance" thread:

Despite Amorin's intellectual limitations, he does make some good points. In particular, concerning the dumbing down of educational standards. That needs to be reversed.

I would add, that despite Cindy Chance's pro residential-appraisal rhetoric, she lacks critical knowledge of appraisal and the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) skills needed for a leadership position in modern-day appraisal. I would question her demeanor interacting with other employees at the AI per Glassdoor.com comments and reviews.

Of course, with a degree from Oxford and Georgetown, she should be quite smart. And we should imagine she would be highly capable of getting along with the rest of the SWAMP leadership in Washington DC. - BUT that is not what is needed. We need so much more than that. She is over-qualified as a politician, and HIGHLY under-qualified as an advanced appraiser. She is by no means what you would call a "super-appraiser."

For residential appraisers to worship her because of what she says is asking for trouble. Do you think she would, or rather could, get rid of AMCs? To get rid of AMCs, you would have to navigate a sea of regulations and find something to replace the AMCs with. Cindy would be nothing more than a bag full of air in that latter respect. She wouldn't know WTF she was talking about.

So, there! That's it. No wishy-washy. Amorin is certainly too incompetent to do the job. So is Cindy Chance. - But of course, anyone who is smart enough to know what to do and do it, also knows that it will be an extremely difficult and drawn-out process, fraught with obstructions, risk, and stress.

i was just going to comment on that thread...i wonder who was so offended...well anyways nothing needs to come out we know she was not going with the program about the racist appraisers fairytales:ROFLMAO:

The problem when a thread title contains someone's name is that it gets indexed in Google and that person will eventually contact me and demand that it be removed. I have no choice but to do so (unless the thread starter wants to pay lawyer fees to fight it and I have never had anyone want to do that).

So I am changing the title of both threads from the person's name to Appraisal Institute Controversy.

Please do not start more threads with this person, or any other person's name as the title.

some of you forumuites want to pay my lawyer's fees. So title your threads something other than a person's name.

Is posting this link acceptable? We have discussed public figures on this forum many times.

This email is insane...

Just don't title the thread with someone's name. Unless their name is Trump or Kamala :giggle:

Oh well, the money grab starts. The 45-Day Notice for the November 14-15, 2024 Board of Directors meeting hit my email today. I urge everyone to oppose the proposed mandatory exclusive AI CE, and in general oppose everything this board proposes until it comes clean with what happened with Dr. Chance. Send an email, or two or three: 45daynotice@appraisalinstitute.org

Agree, this 25 hour AI CE thing is absurd. For years I struggled to find new and interesting residential courses- now there’s many to choose from. just not necessarily through the AI.
If the AI wants people to take more of their courses then they should develop new interesting courses (duh)
This should really have its own thread.

Yep. What little they have for residential is old and stale, and their online offerings through the clunky website are a pain in the rear end. Let's not forget the mandatory Business Ethics and the mandatory Bias course in DO NOT count as CE. That's a total of 37 mandatory AI class hours in the next cycle. And the notice states "The proposed amendments are expected to have minimal financial impact", which is more proof national is in a bubble.
