BREA and Appraisal Foundation didn't get Trumps message....

The State of California is in conflict with the feds on this so I suppose whatever the feds are attempting to make them do will be settled in court.

As for TAF, they're a not-for profit. Not part of the government. They don't have a .gov extension for their website. I don't know why you would think otherwise because it's already been explained to you several times.

Agree or disagree with their DEI and related policies, unless/until it becomes illegal for them to promulgate such they are otherwise permitted to do so.

I honestly think that Trump didn't have to sign an executive order to ban DEI initiatives. It was basically already unpopular by the majority.

Discrimination isn't any good in any shape or form. If one wants to walk on the wild side..... you do you. Just don't cram it down my throat.

If TAF has a new path for new blood to enter the appraisal profession.... make it available for everybody.... not just for "eligible candidates".

I don't think theres any stampede for people to become appraisers unless the AI believes or knows there is some new employment model in the works that the rest of us don't know about. Very few real jobs for appraisers that someone could live on.

I agree. The HVCC was the death of the trainee working under an experienced appraiser, gathering hours for experience logs and obtaining licensure.

The powers that be had to "do something" for New Blood....... no new appraisers means no TAF (and their cushy vacations) no Appraisal Institute, and ultimately no appraisal profession...it's finished.

It's an Octopus --- it is so tied into so many organizations, it will be very hard to dislodge, without careful planning and a very aggressive attack against all its tentacles. .... Who has time for this?

Appraising is a dying career, and lenders need more supply to keep fees lower. Why not have another pathway to get the license (not mine but lender's perspective).

Even with the decline in numbers, these lenders still have enough leverage in the supply/demand dynamic to pitch the old "if you won't take this assignment for cheap we'll just go find someone else who will." Not in every state, but in probably most states.

Lenders still like to have appraisers to blame when things go wrong. We're the scapegoats as we all know.

The people of color that are being told this is an amazing profession, given extras /$$$/'scholarships, easier access then say a white person to be an appraiser ( now) and other reduced qualification entry will then come to find they were sold a bill of goods and the moving forward amazing career of appraising sucks for almost any one that remains to make a go at it. What I can see is once they get some sense they feel there are enough POC appraisers then the FHFA or HUD may try to 'force' lenders to prove how many POC appraisers have been utilized in the larger pool of loans. I wasn't given some white boy club invitation to be an appraiser at 18/19 years old...I fell in to it by chance and due to my natural curiosity and exploration. No one in my family, relatives, neighbors etc were in real estate or appraising. And somehow my so long ago mentor Dennis Fields figured out how to be an appraiser in the late 70's as well. He is black. Weird. Is there reverse discrimination in my local DMV, Parking Enforcement or Postal Service? Because it is 80-90% African American yet the overall demographics are only 13% African American.

Another thing, is that a lot of the older appraisers, are in fact in decent health - and can probably keep going to 90+ - and they may have to, ... for ... all. ... we ... know.

Fact is, most people, if they get exercise and eat good (olive oil, cinnamon, raw chocolate, no red meat, vegetables, walnuts, kefir, no maltodextrin, no high glycemic foods, ....), and don't smoke or take drugs, keep their blood sugar, blood pressure and weight down, drive a big car or pickup, don't spend a lot of time on the road (accidents can always happen) ... have a pretty good chance of living well beyond 90.
