The thing that BURNS me is that everyone is talking, talking, talking about this ad nauseam - from FANNIE on down to the AMCs and the Software Providers, stirring up hysteria and panic and fear, at the same time that:

NO ONE HAS RELEASED A TESTABLE SOFTWARE FOR US TO PLAY WITH YET!!!

ACI put out an advertisement that they are going full cloud. Yeah, that worked great the last time they got hacked.

The software companies have BETA tester's in the field right now. There's no reason to give out software that's in test mode.

Can you imagine thousands of appraisers screaming about how it sucks or doesnt work, when it's not yet fully Beta tested.

You can't let appraisers play with stuff they can't be objective. You just gently lead them, first to take classes being offered, then once their calmed down it's no big deal. The GSE and Software Provider's will make it easy as pie. Lol

Every Software Provider for GSE reports is planning on going Full Cloud in the next year or two. The days of software is kinda ending.

As far as hacking it's no different than hacking existing servers. The benefit is if your home base computers or router get hacked, infected, crashes your appraisal work and history won't be lost. Most offer cheap cloud backup you can access from anywhere.

I'm gonna buy a separate PC for this stuff (yes, I will try it out - and probably will do a lot fewer reports on purpose, as we were planning to do anyway. Just 1-3 AMC clients and the direct lenders. No more being on 70 panels. BTW, your sage observation, Glenn, about no one ever having quit solely due to a form change was helpful to me as a re-frame. ;) )

Anyhow, the separate PC will give me protection against any funny stuff downloading onto my important laptop. And, by not having ANY of my non-work bookmarks on there, it will help keep me on task as the new schitt will require my full attention. (Right now I've got 4-5 windows open at any one time, to click to when the work focus gets fuzzy, til I refocus, or to listen to podcasts as I pretype the reports ..... :ROFLMAO:)

I doubt you will have any problem quickly learning how to use it. Your just looking for a way to start exiting into your next phase of life. One step at a time, if you really hate it, then by all means, speed up your retirement plans.

Incorrect. The two applications moving to the cloud are Bradford and ACI; the others remain desktop applications.

They have to keep the desktop versions for the people that do GSE appraisals

The others will soon follow or become just non GSEs providers providing forms and software for non lending assignments. Most won't even survive much longer as the market is shrinking .
