Arguably Excel is the most successful software ever developed, 40 years old with 2 billion users. But will A.I. overtake it?

Those are all examples of human error. How is it Excel's fault exactly?

Humans are teaching AI...so how does that remove human error in the process? Remember those pics of historical figures? The AI generated asian-featured George Washington for example. Just as dangerous to implicitly trust AI produces flawless results as it is not to audit human generated results IMO.

Right. The point is to use tools that are focused and reduce human error instead of free-form jack of all trades like Excel. Free form AI is also not the solution for a lot of professional work like appraisal work, despite all the hypersters.

They aren't saying this will replace a human, it will help someone clean data and debug the excel in hours as opposed to a week. Similar to medical, the first real world case uses will be to reduce errors, replacing humans is down the road.

Kkthen. Sorry that video is clickbait IMO. This is a nothingburger.

I welcome that usage for Excel.
FTR they will bury me with my 4x2ft Excel mousepad so maybe I'm a little biased.

I agree that's an issue right now. But vibe coding is getting better and better. What I find very interesting with this video is the progress toward natural language use. Most problems with excel or many A.I. GPTs isn't the program, it's the user not knowing how to input what they really want or need. When the natural language barrier is solved, and they are getting there, the everyday uses of A.I. are limitless.

Hopefully, excel mistakes cost companies billions of dollars per year: https://www.solving-finance.com/post/the-wall-of-shame-for-the-worst-excel-errors

This is why I encourage commercial appraisers to get way from the Excel <=> Word rats nest for their reports and use proper narrative software.
It's funny, the last appraisal software package I looked at overlayed Microsoft Office. I've found minimal quirks with Office. I will say their update of Outlook was a setback, but Excel, Word and Access are fine. You can also pay for Copilot which saves programming time in Excel.

Yeah, these things are still just too brittle - too many places for connections and formulas to go wrong.

Have you looked at RealQuantum or StartDeck?
