Is Microsoft Stock Being Hurt by the Failure of Windows 11 to be Adopted?

I recall having to clip OneDrive's wings in a couple of places before it settled down, and I spent an afternoon or two figuring it out between Google searches.

Revo Uninstaller Pro gets deep into the registry to completely nuke Onedrive. You have to click deep scan. It has to be the Pro version which has a free trial for a couple weeks. This way, when updates occur, there's nothing for that Onedrive Leech to attach itself to.

My new ire however, is directed at Google Drive. Since my drive is almost full, the bombarding of "you must buy more space" is relentless. Backed up photos, emails, documents from Google Drive and now..... it doesn't want me to delete everything.... it's insisting that I buy more space. It also doesn't like me turning off all back up buttons on my Android.

Google Drive isn't nearly as bad as OneDrive.... but it is using similar tactics to increase their bottom line.

Microsoft forced me to buy a new computer because of Windows 11. You would think others also buy new computers and help Microsoft earnings.
Was it just me?

How does buying a new computer help Microsoft earnings? Microsoft does not own all the computer companies.

Licensing fees for MS are huge on new pc purchases.....followed by the subscription services of 365, Onedrive (just typing that makes me gag) and Teams.

I'm sure they're going to profit from their AI somehow....

You would already have most of this subscription services for your old computer.

I'm still using Windows 10. So how long do I have until the plug gets pulled?

Big OEM providers have deals with MS to use their operating system, so they don't get charged as much and/or sometimes even get paid to pre-install windows. I know a guy at a startup similar to Framework (but more server/workstation oriented) and they were offered money to ship their pcs with windows.

MS has other issues besides W11. They've been spending a lot on AI and trailing the pack on returns and performance. They're forcing multi-factor authentication across cloud services and it's causing more problems than expected, even with their own applications.

They're on a bad streak and investors no likey

Also should point out the relationship between MS and OpenAI has been deteriorating. Copilot and Azure AI still use GPT4 & 5 but now also offer Anthropic Sonnet 4 and Opus 4.1 which are older models. They've been testing their own LLMs but as far as I know haven't made any breakthrus.
