Collection of unpaid invoices

So make it a rule….no money in hand….no report. Does’t matter who the client is. It will make your life easier. And if they don’t agree to that…walk..
A decent approach, one I've used. A little more difficult to do when the Client is states away from you and, as everyone seems to be, they are in a hurry. Typically, if it's a potential Client I don't know of, I will do a quick search for info about them. If they seem okay, I will accept one assignment. If they pay on time, then we are good. If they don't, then they are have to catch up and then pay up front for future assignments.

“A check handed to (you) at the site”. You mean the borrower pays you? I can see for a private deal but that can’t happen for a lending transaction. Big violation in the lending community. You have to be paid by the lender/client.

I am referring to private work. That’s more likely the place to get stiffed. I have only been stiffed by an AMC once. And they went bankrupt. That was a long time ago. That’s why I don’t work for AMCs that haven’t been around for quite some time. And I barely work for any, because they are cheap.

what law says that...

As a business owner in the United States, it's my God given right to collect payment anyway I see it fit. (y) :rof:

Just wondering if anyone here has had to hire a collection company to help collect from companies that refuse to pay what they owe. Is there anyone you can recommend using?
I have been to small claims court three times in 40 years and got my money each time.

Only had one stiff from a Cali company wayyyyyy back, sent a request/letter to my State AG, and referenced State Law regarding AMC license.
Got a check within 7 days.

Good Luck

Here in “modern times” (aka, post CFPD) , I have not had a problem with lenders not paying. The only good it has done is make the lenders scared of not paying.

Now, that has not meant I have had issues. First thing I do is check my accounts payable, and check it twice and three times ( some times it is me).

Once I am l positive it is not me, I contact them directly. They check their files…they do! They don’t want to have us send out “bad vibes” on them. Most of the times they come back and say, “whoops! Sorry. Will get that out to you.” Once a client came back and say se sent a check and find I didn’t cash it (lost in the mail) and sent me another one.

Point is, I feel they want to resolve any payment issues.
I generally don't have any problem collecting unpaid invoices this one client has let the debt build up and is not answering my calls or emails so it's time to get serious.
