If the DSA controlled a majority in Congress ..... (appraisal related)

Well, when you let private financiers make windfall profits by making casino bet loans and then bail them out with taxpayer monies when the predictable happens, even the Luddites get sheared along with the rest of the sheep. If you would turn on that Internet thingy of yours you would discover that people have been using that phrase associated with the GSE market meltdown for quite some time. How does the "human need for incentivization" figure into the spreadsheet detailing the rest of essential government backed activities in our society, Mr. Adam Smith? Is it possible to have public infrastructure, dams, bridges, roads, schools, police, fire, & law enforcement, and military protection without private industry having to "make a profit" from all those activities?
We could spend years analyzing your need to fabricate nonsense scenarios solely to impose your idealized version of command-and-control over society. Which private financiers made windfall profits by issuing casino-bet loans? Are you referring to lenders who followed government guidelines for making no-doc loans? Or are you referring to excessive government borrowing to such an extent that it ballooned the money supply, creating a firestorm of inflation? Or are you referring to the Federal Reserve ballooning its balance sheet in order to stimulate demand? All of these things led to the crash; it wasn't greedy privateers; it was the private sector following the incentives laid out by the federal government. And no, it isn't possible to have public infrastructure without private industry making a profit, because private industry wouldn't exist without it. Do you get up in the morning and bounce out of bed knowing you won't make a dime? I didn't think so.

Most people don't choose to skip vax criteria

Disease control and vax requirements aren't what most of the critics are objecting to anyway, and you know it.
The critics are wrong. We don't need people bleeding to death because they can't afford a Band-Aid in this society, and you know it

The head of U.S. healthcare is Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who serves as the 26th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), a position he has held since February 13, 2025

How does this guy qualify for anything in Health care? I forgot he was put there by the Fake News, Donnie.......who was going to close all wars first day in office......how many times has he had a Deal with Iran?? 40+ attempts

You don't know anything about 2007-2008 mortgage meltdown, do you? There's a reason that they called those "sub-prime loans". The mortgage brokers certainly weren't "following incentives laid out by the federal government" when making those loans and it was the reinsurance market for private mortgage-backed securities (PLS's) which began the general collapse that eventually infected the securities market worldwide. The GSE's got in on the no doc loans at the tail end of the deregulation which precipitated the meltdown. And rather than see the whole banking sector collapse due to reckless lending by the private sector, the taxpayer once again had to step forward and pony up.

Okay, they're wrong. So what? Their vote still counts for just as much as anyone else's, and that's why it's not happening any time soon.

You can't say you support democracy in one breath and then tell the voters they're too stupid to have their own opinions in the next.

So what then. Kind of like the drug war. When you spend a trillion dollars convincing people that marijuana smokers are evil creatures bent on the destruction of the planet and then ask the public to vote on whether to legalize it or not, then "public opinion" is not a good metric for what is in the best interest of society. We've got a bunch of country hicks out there who think that universal healthcare is "communist" while their Medicare isn't. That messaging isn't spread by accident, it it is spread by the Epstein-class oligarchs who are laughing at us in between screws.

I asked AI to compare China's command economy and the US's economy. It basically said, in the long run the US-style woud do abnout 30% better. In a socialist/dictator-style economy those at the top do great like the Cuba, China, Iran and Russian leaders, soldiers, and czars. Nancy Pelosi showed how inside information can make you rich.

30% better for whom? Our 1%'rs are making out like bandits while the rest of us get to breathe their fumes.

It seems to me that there's some virtue in the idea of "government of the people, by the people, for the people", despite the fact that people are imperfect.

If we can't enact a measure via the legislative process then maybe it shouldn't be enacted.

As long as somebody like Trump isn't up there enacting legislation based on spreading lies about China stealing his reelection in 2020.
