2 Wintotals in same computer

Again, thanks to all for your suggestions above, but I have just received an email response from an ALM rep which explains it all. I guess we can now consider this thread dead.
MS
In order for us all to know, you could post the info.

Why not buy your wife her very own laptop. I have seen them for less than $500 and would solve all your problems! Cheaper than bringing/hiring a computer geek plus you can work at the same time.

So long as they've paid for 2 licenses that is. You can only have it on 2 machines, per WinTotal's EULA, if they "aren't accessed or used at the same time". The only other way to "legally" use WinTotal as a 2 fer 1 without multiple seat licenses is to run it across a network.

Just FYI, YMMV. I personally like my money and my freedom so I don't push it.

It could be done on a dual boot system.

I think that is the cleanest method to do what the OP wanted.

There are some vendors who let you activate/deactivate an application, but that is for single license not multiple.

For a more advanced software solution, there is MS Virtual PC.

Use at your own peril. Here is the link

You can have the program on two different computers. I have it on my desktop and laptop. With two licenses you could use four computers.

one of these days I've got to learn how to use the quote feature.......anywho, to answer Jerry Bones post from earlier;

According to the ALM rep. in a seperate email to me (and I paraphase here, not quote) the only way he knows that "might" work to run 2 seperate, properly licensed, applications--belonging to two different companies--on the same computer would be to look at a dual boot system otherwise the registries and config. files will continue to play havoc with each other. (and yes, I know this is all a mute point if I have other computers, i.e. laptops---because we are already doing that)

THAT SAID...he does not see the need to even attempt to set that up. I only have to maintain my licensed copy of WT and any appraisals I produce will have my company name at the top of page one (or bottom of page one for vacant land?) when it leaves my computer. If my office manager does any sort of work for anyone else on my licensed copy of WT there is still no problem. When the copy of the file is sent to the person who has ANOTHER properly licensed copy of WT it now picks up the company name, registry, etc. of the PC which is used to open it. It does not even matter if that second person is sent a completed and signed file. It can be read and reviewed then sent out with that second persons company name at the top of the page one although no changes were made (attempted?) on page six with the signature block, originating appraiser/orig. company name etc.

OR, at least that is the way I now understand it and hope that it works.

I admitted as much, but according to ala mode, you can't use those 2 installs *at the same time* without buying a separate license. Check the EULA. Call ala mode. That's what they told me. I run mine across a network so 2 can use it at the same time legally since I only paid for "1 copy" of the software.

*1* license does NOT mean you can use two copies at once, even though you can technically install it a hundred times to different machines if you wish. You heard it here second.

Read the post!

It says properly licensed.

DUH! READ MY POST, THE PART YOU QUOTED!!! I said, "SO LONG AS they are properly licensed". See, I am pretty smart, and assume MORE THAN JUST THE ORIGINAL POSTER would read this thread.

Ease off me, or get back on the meds, whichever you think would help the most.

What got you so angry this morning or is this a normal reaction for you? Seems to me the only thing that would help, is for you to get back on the meds and some type anger management!:Eyecrazy:
