2008 so Far ?

There were a few reports out of Rudee on Tidalfish yesterday. Looks like plenty of bait but the fish were scattered. I've been thinking of going to the HRBT for a little C&R, but it's really cold. I fish out of a kayak so I need to be careful of the weather even though I have dry gear. I think I'll wait till we are back up in the low 50's again. :)

I post on Tidalfish also. Great website. It was ashame some of the guys were complaining about many of the top-finishers in last weeks tournament were live-eeling. I had a crew ready but another issue popped up and we did not participate. Live-eeling on the ocean side of the Shore would have been Plan A. I think the wind on Friday (S/SW) from one direction and then from the opposite direction (N/NE) on Saturday made things interesting. Those deep-drop trips look fun. I think I will try my first one out of Hatteras where the run is not as long.

You kayak guys are nuts. Looks like a lot of fun.

I haven't heard anything but I haven't really been listening either.

I've seen the kayak guys load up on flounder on the north side of Oregon Inlet. I'll try it one day. I used to do a little spear fishing out of my kayak down in Wilmington. That was fun. I came face to face with a 6 foot tarpon. I shot at it but it didn't seem to care. Too cold for me to fish right now. Hell, it's too cold for me to leave the house.

73lb rock hooked by the lips and dragged into somebody's boat yesterday. You can see the pics on TidalFish. Beautiful fish. One report has it they caught it near the 4A buoy on a red/white stretch 30. Another report has it they caught it south off Sandbridge on a parachute rig.

Yes, I heard it on the radio this morning and read the report on TF. I have mixed feelings about taking big fish, especially now that it is on display at the boat show, which means it likely will not be eaten. I eat all the fish I kill...........except bait of course. Anyway, impressive and legally caught fish but it would have been cool to see a release citation :)
