If it's just based on number of floors then just ask how many floors and then call it whatever you want it in your database.
A valid point. But I don’t see how that relates to the original comment. And the question still stands - if it is “stupid” to distinguish a mid rise from a high rise by using the number of floors, what method would not be stupid?

My thought on it is mid-rise and high-rise is simple. That's fine use number of floors. I think other characteristics that are more relevant for what is garden garden or mid-rise. 3 Level for garden and 4 level for mid-rise is stupid. At least the database is uniform though! :)
 
I don't think 7 vs 8 floors makes much if any diff, but you gotta draw a line somewhere I guess.
Just try not to compare those to a townhouse style unit with 2 levels and a private garage.
Especially if your high rise is a full service building with HOA dues in the 4 figures.

Just call it whatever you what approaches such as above is one of the reasons UAD was created.
