Unless your born and raised there many can't deal with the rain and gloomy weather. Same with parts of Oregon beautiful in late Spring and Summer but eight months of rain and gloom. That's why so many are stoned and many alcoholics and depression.

I don't know if I had a choice in it at all, but the weather is to die for, and I love gardening, specifically beefsteak tomato growing, am an hour from world-class fine wineries, and restaurants. What a screw-up, right? I guess I have adapted.

Southern California is wonderful if you have money or wealth adjacent mountains, beaches, little rain and low humidity. But if you don't have money it's best to move to other places. It's really that basic.

NW Arkansas is one of the fastest growing areas in the US. And most of the newbies are from the left coast, Missouri and Texas. California mainly. Statewide, Florida is sending a lot of people to Arkansas due to the low cost of living compared to Florida. Florida actually sends fewer than Texas and California. Oklahoma also sends a lot of people into Arkansas mainly for jobs. Texans enjoy no income taxes, but property taxes are high and so they move to Arkansas to retire, no income, no income tax. Happiness in Arkansas is a Texan heading South with a Californian under one arm and a Floridian under the other.
