If anyone needs a website, I'll set it up for free. Just message me. Simple 1-page business card type website is all you need unless you're a bigger firm.
Square Space is good....pretty detailed. But I use a local guru and he sets up my blog, etc. $360 a year. I get about 10-20% of my work there.
 
Last year when my appraisal business was flying high, I signed up for Elite. I didn't use all the functions like the flood maps.
This year I went back to basic subscription. I'm cheap.
 
Come on. Total is not made for a good experience. They don't care.

-Why do I need to check a warning box every single time I export to XML?
-Why isn't there a 'sign and save' feature so that you can export to xml in one click?
-When I import a PDF, why can't I insert it where I want and not just at the end?
-Why does the signature date transfer over when you merge reports?
-Why does the undo button not work?
-Why does 'optimize' photo turn your picture into garbage? What is it even?
-Why does the program allow you to accidentally paste over multiple fields, completely messing up the data?
-Why doesn't the MC form automatically place the number of sales/listings at the top of page 2?
-When you swap photos, why don't the labels swap?
-Why can't I set a default form structure template ? It's always the same. Why do I have to move around forms?
-Why can some field text be resized but other text cannot?
-Why does the E&O flag for comparable sale history within 1 year of the subject's effective date? It's irrelevant.
-Why does smart adjust not work on the General form? Only 1004? The grid data is the same.
-Why do hybrid forms not tab to the left? You can't move spaces to the left. It doesn't work, regardless of the settings.
-Why doesn't smart adjust have a setting for time adjustments so that you can skip a month. Like when you're appraising the subject on the first day of the month. The comps don't deserve full month adjustments.

So I currently have the gold level membership and of course, they are trying to get me to upgrade to the Elite bundle with $400 off if I act now! So I decided to go to the website and see what all it includes and how much it is. I don't log in to my account and just select the Elite Bundle with a price of $1,599. I knew that I had a credit with them for having their software for a while so I decided to log in and see what it was and then went back to the Elite Bundle page. Well this time it was now $1,801.10. So basically it seems that they are increasing the prices of people who already use their software and have an introductory price for new customers.
Holy crap! Download the trial version of Bradford Tech Clickforms, they have a converter for your files. I used Wintotal for 20 years and quit the second Corelogic got control of the software. Clickforms is way better IMO

Damn. That's really impressive that you get 10% of your work from a website. But I guess if you're commercial that makes more sense.

Minor inconveniences compound up over time and I HATE inefficiency. If you add up the amount of time wasted signing reports, then clicking to export XML, clicking that stupid checkbox, moving around forms, dealing with the terrible undo/redo button, manual time adjustments, .....and it easily ends up being an entire day's worth of time.

Expand that out to every appraiser. Thousands of man-hours wasted interacting with a slow and crappy computer program that we must use to do our jobs.
 
Why the hell does it take so long to mark a report as paid? Holy crap. All you have to do is change one bit in the file. Paid or unpaid. 0 or 1.
 
Total users are total losers.

Mineral appraisal work for the most part. Not many of us who do mineral appraisals are certified. It is mostly done by petroleum engineers...The BIA recently required their own internal appraisals be certified and they are hurting to find qualified people.

Yeah, you're the exact person in this industry that needs a website that goes above and beyond. But it would be easier to make since there's actually something to talk about.
