Technically speaking ACI was only down from Wednesday to Friday only 2 days and the industry went haywire. Like any substantial business was gonna happen or be lost the end of the week prior to the BIGGEST HOLIDAY of the year after 1 of the SLOWEST years on record. I am not an ACI user, but I would not want to get hasty and dump them over this issue. Certainly, they need to somehow separate themselves from the parent company, and tighten their security measures, too. But if you have clients who insist you use other software, then pick one and try it. Clickforms is easy to learn. SFREP is also likely pretty easy. I'd say Total is the biggest vendor, and part of a larger company that could also be attacked - in fact, is more likely to be attacked than the smaller independents.speaking ACI was only down from Wednesday to Friday
I heard some people freaked out and spent $800 singing up for new software already.Technically speaking ACI was only down from Wednesday to Friday only 2 days and the industry went haywire. I was an independent appraiser for 19 years, and ended up going full time with an AMC about 8 weeks ago...I am an ACI user. But when we found out there had been a cyber attack issue, just five hours later they had all the staff appraisers who were using ACI downloading and using Total. It was nice to be able to keep working, but the AMC gave ACI NO time to get the issues resolved...and like you said - Total would be the next in line because they have so many customers. I am not a huge fan of Total, and I will plan to stay with ACI out of loyalty & just a basic understanding that cyber attack issues can happen to anyone these days.I am not an ACI user, but I would not want to get hasty and dump them over this issue. But at $300 or so, HomePuter seems to be a good cheap backup, in the event this happens again.
Terrell gave you some good advice. If you are going to continue to use ACI it’s good to have a backup. HomePuter has all the forms, and the learning curve is not that hard. It doesn’t have bells and whistles, but it’s a stable program that does the job.I was an independent appraiser for 19 years, and ended up going full time with an AMC about 8 weeks ago...I am an ACI user.
