You need a pool in Northern CA. Then you can insulate alot and turn off the air conditioner. Of course you're in the pool alot during the day but saves a couple hundred bucks a month ac costs.

I see a lot of pool contracts around here. Very few less than $70,000. If you have a salt chorlinator system it is not that expensive to upkeep. If you have problems, then it can get expensive.
