Can anyone recommend a cheaper version of adobe reader that's good, I am setting up a new computer?

There are plenty and some are free. Just google pdf reader. The ones with more features are not pricey. Or go to cnet.com

I've been using this free one for a few months now. I was prepared to hate it after years of having a full licensed Adobe installation, but it does everything I need it to do.

I'm using old version (no subscription BS) and it works fine. Im not sure that I can share with you though.

Perfect PDF 10 is the best one I've found, version 9 is good too, and it allows you to downsize bigger files. About $39 I have Adobe 10, but it is clunky compared to Adobe 10 I had several years ago. It's not the same program.

If you need to create a PDF... some versions of Windows include MS Print to PDF... or maybe it's in your printer driver. Either way, if you have it, it will appear in your print dialogue where you select which printer to print to.

If you want to edit documents, resize your reports etc. You'll need more than the generic pdf's in word processors and Windows.

Agree....if just converting, lots of free ones out there. Just go to Cnet downloads and try a couple...

However, if you want to edit, create, secure, etc., you can pick up Kofax power PDF for about a $100 bucks. One time fee, none of that subscription nonsense.

Even firefox allows some editing of pdfs. There's inkscape, libre office draw, pdfmod, for more advanced options. Really depends on what you need to do

There is really no reason to pay for any of that in 2025
