Did you ever hear back?
It takes months for a big county to call you back. I had forgotten about applying when the county I ended up working for called. Then it was me, a CR, and a home inspector that made through the first round of interviews. Then, all the candidates, including the internal candidates, who were a clerk and a lower level appraiser. Each of us were assigned a different new house to do an appraisal on, and had to present our appraisal to the 4 managers of the different appraisal departments, and HR. I think we had a couple of days. They were not expecting a full appraisal, which was what I did. They hired me and the home inspector, largely because we both had degrees and because we both listed every C.E. we'd ever taken. They did not know the difference between a CG and a CR and it took me 3 years to get a promotion into the Commercial Department due to a hiring freeze. Every county is different and some give tests with lots of math and formulas.
I applied for Orange County (a commercial appraiser job) in Florida years ago after I earned my CAE They had a typing speed test where you had to look at a projected screen and type a page. I was not wearing my glasses. Then, I had to take a 4 page exam with complicated income approach questions. I didn't have my HP -12 with me. Then, I had to map addresses all over Orlando in best route (my first time to Orlando). Then, 6 different people interviewed me at the same time. The GIS mapping guy asked me "How many piano tuners are there in Orlando?". The Assessor himself asked me how many greenbelt parcels were there in the county I worked in (I actually knew that one). They hired an MAI who had appraised Busch Gardens and a CG who worked for NASA. The MAI only lasted a couple of years and left to be Chief Appraiser of a Bank. There is a new Assessor now, so the process my be different now. This is the kind of information I want Glassdoor to have, lol

I took the exam but unfortunately I didn’t do well in the math part, I studied the wrong stuff. But it also shortened my time. You have to finish 20 questions within 10 min but the exam gave me 8 minutes which put me in a surprise, I explained to her and the person was very helpful. Unfortunately there is nothing that could help me re take the exam. So for now I have to wait in tell January:/ to apply again

Seems odd to apply a timer that wasn't the case bitd. They keep handing out licenses to realtors and the day they get their license they can sell multi million dollars homes make that make sense. Keep plugging away bro.
