ag property with proposed grain storage

When you say flat storage, is that a Q-hut looking structure with the grain going in throuhg the roof. We have a few of them in our area but farmers here prefer what I call typical bins. Typical bin is 53,000 bu or so. Typical farm unit will be 2 to 6 bins.

Is there an advantage to the flat storage? In some parts of the state the flat storage (if I understand what flat storage is) was popular at one time because I see the old Q-huts with the access doors in the top.

We typically treat bins as personal property, since most can be sold at auction, unbolted and hauled away and set up again somewhere else.

If the were to be moved, then the cost of the move would have a similar effect on the value of the bin, that I have indicated in my eariier post.

I have seen great bin set-ups that were in varying amounts of isolation where the grain has been stolen and sold. With the price of grain what it is now, there is a great incentive to "help your self".

Location! Location! Location!

This is a consideration that some farmers do not take into consideration when installing bins.

They will move 50,000 bushel bins, legs, etc.?

When yall say the only market is auction to be moved, what kind of money are they paying per bushel for good bins.

I am kind of surprised. Here a few years ago we had the same situation, but now they are like gold. We have been involved with new construction loans on 8 different sets in just he last 6 months. Essentially no decent sized on farm units have sold. Any that are functional are being used.
