If ignorance is bliss, then the AI is covered with blisters for treating Residential Appraisers as the red headed step child that is only tolerated but never fully embraced. Especially since they outnumber the CG's by multiples.

It should be obvious that all the societies are a dollar short and hour late to keeping up w/ the power brokers in lending. AI has internal management issues, that is obvious when top leaders are asked to step down by major regional group. I'm not sure that change would make a difference. I think the industry of banking is attempting to marginalize residential appraising.

The clueless one in the room is the one that the AI is and does advocate for. He doesn't recognize that the AI has marginalized the residential sector. Even the AI leadership has openly admitted and recognized that they have not done enough for the largest number of potential members of their organization. Pete, even you should recognize that their recent efforts are likely too little too late, but if you deny that they have recently admitted that they have been marginalizing the residential side you are a liar and denier. In any case, the AI has operated under a "Union" model with their annual fee requirements but have fallen short of acting as a lobby for residential appraisal interests for the past few decades to their own detriment. If I'm wrong, at worst perception is reality. Ask most residential appraisers what AI has done for them lately (or the last 15 years) and you will have the true answer. While I am not a union supporter, I could support AI if I thought at least a portion of their emphasis was in lobbying for positive actions on the residential side with nearly the same fervor as the CG side of things, which until now has been marginally threatened. Times they are a changing and CG is next if any mode of appraisal practice is threatened.

Again, you have no clue. I recommend going to the AI home page and checking out the initiatives and testimony the AI has undertaken on behalf of the residential sector. While they haven't been successful given the money and weight of those against them, they haven't stopped trying. Perhaps if more lobbying money were available, AI and like organizations might have better results. But too many whiny folks such as yourself sit on the sideline and moan, groan and criticize (playing to your strengths).

Was just reviewing some correspondence from our region of the AI and currently in excess of 80% of money and resources have gone to fight battles to benefit the residential appraiser despite the regional membership being primarily commercial practitioners. I suspect similar numbers are evident in a number of other regions.
