Ala Mode To Homeputer

Alamode on a virtual box in Linux has run well for several years. Stability of windows is starting to fail with the size of the new files. I to will likely go to the Cloud based to get away from Windows. The only windows programs I use are alomode and a GIS service of a couple of distant Counties through Explorer. Getting the ability to send the various formats xml and env to some vendors are expensive parts of some less costly software.

Yeah thats my current setup too. I had used NCV in a virtualbox before that. It works well, but virtualbox isn't the perferct solution either. What are you using for your invoices and accounts receivables?

An internal alamode invoice can be used or one in Libre office (a modified template) I then give the data to my wife to put into Quickbooks on her computer. I do not want Quickbooks on my computer. I can not bet her to convert to GNUcash or similar. There is no good Linux free accounting system with check writing for the rest of our records.

I wish the Total Invoice could auto number invoices and do some basic accounts receivable and ledger reconciliation etc. As only creating an invoice its almost worthless. I still use Quickbooks in a VM but will switch to gnucash if its the last thing I need to be rid of windows. But I find gnucash more full featured and complicated than I need. So I keep looking for something better too.

A comment in the SFREP re-write video on youtube suggest that SFREP will include an accounting system down the road. A simple book keeping system for one man appraisal shops would be a nice feature.

Kmymoney looks good but requires an add-on for check writing. It does not have the client, vendor and type splits that my wife often uses. I have not seen an online one that is economical that has check writing integrated. GNUcash is has more features but is more old line double entry and its learning curve is greater. I got my wife a new computer this winter and put the new version of Quickbooks on it under Windows 10. She runs skype and facebook on it. I try to keep my appraisal computer to just appraisal needs.
