Even Tesla did not choose California to build its Gigafactory. Likewise, Amazon is not considering California.

Darn! Lost another one to Texas. :rof::rof:

When are you moving to Texas Randy, then you would be about "half back" to Carlsbad? :)

Amazon looks to be unstoppable in its growth and reach of products. However, eBay has advantages that Amazon does not. Walmart has storefronts nationwide and in small towns. It is competing by order online and either ship it to you direct or in store pick up. Walmart already does food where Amazon has spent $13.7 billion in its acquisition of Whole Foods, which has only 400 stores. Amazon is planning to have its own fleet of delivery trucks to replace FedEX and UPS.

It will be interesting to see how long Amazon can last with its growth model and whether competitors will morph their business models into more efficient means of shopping and delivery.

Amazon Hub program gives the retail giant control over the last mile of the logistics chain

Amazon has signed contracts with apartment owners and managers representing more than 850,000 units across the U.S. to begin installing Amazon locker systems in their buildings, according to the landlords. Amazon has commitments to install the lockers in thousands of properties, many before the peak holiday shopping season, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Don't think Cali was ever in the race. Amazon already has a West Coast presence and are looking to establish a larger geographic footprint. Don't see Texas as an alternative either.

Charlotte and Raleigh are having dreams of splendor with Amazon headquarters. Don't think it'll happen but I'm sure they will put in a bid on bringing them to NC.

Virtually everybody has that dream....the DC suburbs of Northern Virgina and College Park, MD have that dream too.

California does not need low paid jobs , it tends to offer higher paid jobs. I know you hate to hear it with your biased agenda. Amazon is offering low paid jobs mainly avg 25-27k with a portion of the work to be done by robots. I don't know why cities are offering them anything it is a con game. The cities will end up subsidizing housing as the work force who can't even afford housing on those wages and as Amazon automates more and more they will displace the human workers in large part.
