This is not the first time that he was away from the country when natural disaster hit Texas.
During summer months it's hurricane season and so he should be prepare.
Even I am hesitant to go on vacation during winter.
The winter rains and storms have potential to cause damage to my rentals so I have to plan ahead looking at the weather forecasts.

I lived in Texas on and off for many years and worked for more than one Texas Company. The most profitable jobs I ever had were in Texas. It is my second choice of a state to live in, well above Colorado and just ahead of New Mexico. I'd as soon live in the poorest country in Africa as to live in California.
