Any experience with retroactive permits in LA City?

Easier to ask forgiveness than to ask for permission

Not always true with regard to permits. A few yrs ago we had a case where the owner (a contractor) added a 1,500sf addition without permits of any kind. It was very well done, but could never be permitted as it violated setback on 2 sides. In this case we had the appraisal made "subject to" removal of the illegal addition. I belive he declined to proceed with the loan.

I bet he did. :icon_lol:

This one he added to the back, not getting closer to the side fence, so I assume doesn't violate setbacks (300' deep lot). Removing the addition could be a problem in this case. It wasn't even clear where it started exactly, as the whole thing had been redone.

I may call the illegalconversions.com guy and a couple others, depending on what the client wants.
