Just wanted to see if I'm all alone.

From the number beside our state, it appears that there are only 4 of us on the forum. We had a few others, but they were "removed". Diana Verel from OKC used to post occasionally, haven't seen anything from her for a long time! I have been so busy that I haven't had time to even lurk on here. Have had 3-5 commercials going at all times. Down to only two now, hope that trend doesn't continue. Of course, it is the holidays and that, typically is a slower time.

In case I don't get back on here before that time, Merry Christmas to all of you! Right now, I am running my computer from a generator as we have been without electricity for, now, 10 days and counting.....and getting pretty impatient!!

OK, forget what I said about the number beside the state names. Apparently, that is the number of posts in the forum, not the number of members of the forum. I checked it after my post and it had gone up by one. We are just not a heavy posting state, it would appear.

I've been reading here for many years. I just listen and learn from the best of the best. I also wish more Okies would join. Years ago G would post almost daily. I would always follow his postings. It seams like we had a couple more active Okies however they are long gone.

Upgrading

I sent in the application packet back in September to the Oklahoma board for upgrade to GR. Just today I got a letter from them saying I'm denied. It says not to call, we will send a letter sometime in Janurary explaining why. Damm!

Were you going for GR or CR? Certified Residential or Certified General. Either way, if it took them this long, it probably had to do with your sample appraisals you sent in. Usually, if there is a problem with your experience hours or something wrong in your application, they get back to you within a couple weeks.

They are swamped at the Board offices! I am on the Disciplinary Committee, not the Education Committee, but they even had us reviewing work product. No, I didn't review your's.

Don't be too dissappointed! Get the education hours required for 2008, take the review of your work and learn from it, then re-apply. Remember, Babe Ruth set records for strike-outs just as he did for home runs!!! And....you are never a failure if you get back up after you are knocked down!

Mr Dunkle, I applied to upgrade to CR. I've been appraising for 7 years now, no complaints, no disiplanary actions. I've had a CG friend review most of my work. Can't imagaine what they found wrong. I am also not AQB compliant because they say I need to send in my experience logg and take the test again. They have my experience logg that I sent in Sept. I can not find anything in the rules that says I need to take the test (same test I took back in 2000) just to stay at the liciense level and be compliant. This has become a real headache.

Just chekn' N. I'm an Arkie but have a OK CG.

I really question what is happening with our state boards. It is like they are using every excuse to fault someone when those same boards were overlooking far more serious issues in 1992-1996 era in the early years.

It is not the board's job (imho) to regulate who enters the professional too closely (ie. they are not in the biz to promote the existing appraisers to the exclusion of others who qualify and they have some responsibilty -again at least imho- to show some deferrence to licensees until there is a complaint).

Making the entry bar too high is not the function of a board. The boards sole function (again I stress this is my opinion and not the way the boards obviously view it) is to punish the errant appraiser.

The errant appraiser (ditto IMHO) is obvious. Compounding errors. Comps that are obviously newer homes, better homes, etc. Clearly not credible work. Nitpicking verbiage; arguing subtleties in comp selection, location, etc.; nor minor mistatements hardly rise to sanctionable levels in my opinion.

I am sorry you are having trouble. Frankly, its not right. The OK board looked the other way too many times in the past to now suddenly become such a strict contructionist.

BTW, any comments on the Dec. 17th letter the state sent out regarding changes in the law?
