Who's got the best rates out there?

I've got a couple of trainees that I have included on my current policy, but here's the catch: I have one trainee who was disciplined by the NC Appraisal Board and lost his license for a year. He's a good appraiser and what he got nailed for wasn't under my supervision. He got caught up in a flip scheme when he had only been appraising for a few months. Now my carrier says they won't cover him since he's had his license suspended in the past even though an E&O claim was never filed and the suspension wasn't with my company.

On top of that my current carrier won't cover us as individuals and will only cover us as a company. They are raising the premiums 30% even though we have never had any claims (they blame 9-11). If I stay with my current carrier then we will have a 30% premium increase that will have to be paid for by less people than were covered last year!

What I need is: 1. A reasonable rate for my company (2 licensed appraisers and 4 trainees) that will cover all of us (including the one who got in trouble) OR 2. A reasonable rate for us as individuals and I leave the one who got in trouble to fend for himself.

Are there any insurance companies that will insure trainees on an individual basis without having to cover my entire company? Or any that will cover the company including the disciplined one? Any help would be appreciated!

I can't answer you question but try The Noble Group. 1-800-519-5900. There rates were the best, they primarly insure Realtors but they do Appraisers also.

It may be cheaper for each appraiser to have their own policy. But as for the trainee with a black mark, I dunno who can help. All I can say is call around and let them know up front before giving a quote.

Maybe try CRES. 800-880-2747
I got a reasonable policy for a small biz through United States Liability Insurance Group.
