Most families moving into the neighborhood keep kosher and are looking for a kosher kitchen and do not want the expense of having to rip out an old one and put a new one in.
Ron, In order to make the kitchen kosher you dont need to rip the old one out. You can leave all the cabinats and just change counter-tops and put in a new double-sink and you'll have a kosher kitchen.
I personally dont write in my reports the word "KOSHER" kitchen, "SUKKAH" room (Sun room), or "PASSOVER" kitchen (utility kitchen)

Allan,

In my neighborhood which is very orthodox most homeowners rip out the cabinets and walls becauase they expand the kitchen. They install two seperate sinks, two seperate stoves, two dishwashers and two seperate microwaves. About the only appliance there is one of is the Fridge and believe it or not many have two one in the garage for additional food storage because they have very large families. In fact, when we redid our kitchen we now have two sinks and two dishwashers. One for dairy and one for meat dishes and pots and pans.
