Its all in the

cost to operate, less so the initial price, as you implied with your first post. I can't recommend my printer, it is too old now, but after a few years I discovered a local company who delivered refilled toner cartridges for $35 each, which was about $50 less than new.

If you can find a company in your area doing this, try to get a few recommendations from them. If you just go out and buy a printer you may not know wether refill cartridges are available at all.

check out http://www.inkjetsuperstore.com for ink, bought HP LJ 1000 for under $150 bucks with rebate 5 yrs ago and I buy 3500 pg cart from them less then $25, works out to .007 per page.

Bought a HP CLJ 1600 for $250 with rebate 1 yr ago, buy ink for @$30 less then retail from site

You might want to check out reconditioned HP's. You can buy a HP 4050TN which is dual tray for under $300. You can spend a little more and even find them refurbished with a warranty. Some of the high yield toners are getting 8000 pages for under $50.

If you would like to research printers from people who really know the best ones and the most cost efficient, then check out some of the notary forums like 123 notary and notary rotary. Just google search them. Most people seem to like the HP's and Brother printers. They also post some good info on the best deals for toner, and what the actual yields they are really getting out of the cartridges. Also some good feedback on reliability and the better sellers for refurbished units. By the way, our IT department at the company I work for buys refurbished HP units and they work just as good as the leased new equipment.

I use the Brother HL 2070N. I think I paid $99 and its great. It prints through wifi to boot!

I got my Dell 3000cn refurb from their outlet for $160 and I went over a year without changing the toner.

My suggestion would be the check fatwallet.com or slickdeals.net. There are usually really good laser deals posted on there.
