Anybody use Wave Accounting Software and have any recommendations about the Pro version?

So far, the basic version for me is a dream-come-true for my accounting. (I hate Xero and QuickBooks is just too expensive and far more than I need. The basic is free -- but the pro is $199/year.

The Pro version allows auto-import of bank transactions, expense tracking and a few other things. It is an online system, so you have to be OK with that. H&R Block tax preparers can access your online accounting to do your tax return, and that may be an advantage. My stuff is simple enough I can do everything manually, although I have better things to do.

The reality is that for a lot of small businesses doing their own accounting, Wave is more forgiving to errors. I found Xero was difficult to work with if you want to make changes, especially with anything to do with automated importing of bank accounts. I stopped using Xero many years ago.

So, I am borderline going to Pro. I really don't want o add another $200/year expense, yet automatic tracking of expenses, would be nice. And also, they have other features not advertised.

Their motto is:

You didn't start your business to be a bookkeeper!

I have been using it for 12 years. It's fine. It does what I need and it is free.

Quickbooks is always our (Appraisal Inbox) second most integration request (after report writing software), sometimes Xero. We plan on that next year. Wave looks really good and they have an integration API, will poke around: https://developer.waveapps.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019968212-API-Reference
Xero is made by Australians (or more specifically New Zealanders and Australians), who I have worked with. They have this way of thinking: Their real clients are the CPAs and bookkeepers - not the business owners. Thus they are motivated to make their software complex enough to require a CPA or experienced bookkeeper.

Even H&R Block provides Wave to attract business owners to use their tax accounting services. But they are smart enough to do something different: Build a bookkeeping system that is simple and resilient enough for imperfect bookkeeping business owners.\
