I currently use a Vonage line in addition to land lines and am very happy with it. My problem is that it's a long distance since they didn't have my local numbers yet.

AT&T has my local numbers, so I'm thinking of switching over and was wondering if anyone else has had any experience with their service.

Thanks

I dont have personal experience with it...but if it's anything like comcast voip, it's overpriced and designed for people that are 'afraid' to ditch their regular phone line in lieu of the VOIP....It may get expensive but have you considered an 800# from vonage? I think it's ~6$ and you get 100incoming minutes...and if you ditch your landline it might equate to the same cost...and you get to keep vonage....I personally love the vonage service...tech support is the absolute worst...but for call quality and dependability its perfect, we run two lines and the only time we have problems is when the cable goes down.....have you called vonage and asked when the local #'s would be available?? also have you considered skype? since you still use a landline they have dual phones which could work out pretty well for you...dunno about their service and/or ability to get you a local # though.

I've used Packet8 for years with no problem. They have a lot of great features and are not subject to litigation...that I'm aware of.

I've really liked the Vonage service - as long as I didn't have to talk with them. My only problem is I want the local number. Vonage says they have our local number, and I switched to get one, but its not in our call center area or whatever, so it's still long distance in town. The AT&T service has our local prefix, and the Packet8 says they can transfer my old numbers (woo hoo), so I'm looking at those two.

Thanks for your replies, I appreciate it!

^^ In that case I'd go for packet8, I've never heard of them but it seems their prices and features seem to be the same as vonage...actually their long distance package seems to beat the hell out of vonage.
