Robert has been working on last minute stuff for Apex version 6. He has put together a short “teaser” video and asked me for my feedback. I am obviously biased (and pretty "dry", LOL so, given my respect for the readership here, I thought I’d run it past you folks for your opinion(s.) What I’m wanting to know is your first impressions on the “flavor” of the ad, not really about the software (since it’s not really shown much, being a “teaser”.) Any feedback you can offer – public, private, whatever - is much appreciated.

Hi Larry,

I'll refer that to Robert Smoote. For now, I'm just wondering if folks like/dislike/whatever the video. have suggestions, etc. I am horrible at marketing things, so I thought I'd ask folks here for their initial impression for a teaser thing (vs. more informative on product, etc.)

It seems too "cute". Your target is professionals, most of which already are familiar with the product even if they don't use it. Frankly, that wouldn't convince me to even try it. Show me how it saves time and money or better than the one I'm using. I think my license is still on 3.1 or something. Nothing in that ad convinced me to upgrade.

Thanks, Tom. I don't think the intent was to try and show stuff, just announce it is about to (finally) ship. Still, I appreciate your input and will pass things along. We're not strong on marketing so constructive criticism is needed.

  1. the part in the video where is says "Wanna Learn More ! ?" (about 0:32) I think should be moved to the end just before the "Coming March 2015" (about 1:13)
  2. Also the video lacks a call to action. You might want to reference a web site that goes into more detail about the features of the new version

do you need a beta tester
Hey Larry,

The product is in its final stages of production, so it's a pretty advanced "beta". Regardless, we always welcome more eyes and hands on our products to get as much feedback as possible. Please send me your email address (rsmoote@apexwin.com) and I'll make sure the appropriate people on my team reach out and provide you with the necessary documents, guidance, etc.

Thanks for asking! I'll be on the lookout for your email.

Thanks for the feedback Tom! Much appreciated. As Randy mentions, the intent of this video is to give users a glimpse of the software, but mostly to announce that new product is coming in March. More informative videos that show you how Av6 will save you time and money are in the works, so stay tuned; I think you're going to like what we've done.

Thanks, Howard! I'll consider your suggestion for #1 and I agree with a "Call to Action". This initial teaser video is really just a "heads up" for users (new and existing) that something's coming... It'll also be embedded within an email that provides a little more information along with a reference to our website. As I posted to Tom, more information (and revealing) videos, emails, etc. are being prepped and will follow. Again, thanks for the feedback! We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
