Apex Version 5 - Sketch Info and Zoom Cursor

Steve,

Sorry for the delay in replying. Have not made it in to the office yet. Waiting on workers to show up at home and I need to show them a potential problem on some new construction... :-( Been outside, taking pictures, and came inside to make an illustration as I really need to leave...

Anyway, since you are on a maintenance and support contract I recommend that you call our Iain Nicholson at 800.858.9958. He is head of our QA team and issues like this get reported to him anyway. Tell him we corresponded and I recommended you call him and be directed to Jonathan in Tech Support for documenting, seeing what is causing the problem, etc. You can give your info to Iain and we'll also see about activating your CAD module... :-) I will be calling Iain soon to make sure he expects your call.

Hope this helps!

Steve,

I understand that you spoke with Jonathan late last week and got things taken care of. Let me know if you run into any issues. I have put a hold on the custom variation work while we take care of a hot fix item, so I will look into introducing a hot key for the existing Zoom Cursor" function while the general code is open anyway. As I said earlier, I really intend to make that function better for v5.2. I don't like how the cross hair is static and does not Xor (change color) when it is over another black line. Plus, I want it integrated into the GUI vs. a window that eats into the viewport/drawing area. I aim to add a dynamic element to the side panel(s) to allow more flexibility there, so this is where it should go. We had the panels done that way for v5.0 but I was unhappy with the performance, so we went back to fixed panels. In the interim, I think the item at the root of the performance hit was addressed so it is time to re-introduce them IMHO. I am working on a long-overdue Module in parallel with the other items and it pretty much needs these panels anyway. More on that in a month or two. Anyway, let me know how things are working for you. CAD files can be tricky and messy under the hood, but if you can get your developers to pass you a DXF or DWG, it will save you a LOT of time. The "trick" is to get them to "filter" out as many of the "interesting but not pertinent" layers before sending you the file.

Thanks, Randall, and yes, I got fixed up and am exploring the CAD module right now. I enjoy having the Zoom Cursor back!

BTW, I was working in Photometrics and had an issue of the image "jumping back" to full size every time I had an event. That is, when I clicked Fit Image to Screen the image would resize to the screen, but when I did any other operation (open an area, add text, etc.) the image would revert back to full size. That causes me to Fit Image to Screen every other click as I worked. Wonder if it's only me....anyway, thanks for everything!

Steve,

I'll look into the situation you described. I know we changed the image handling in PhotoMetrics to make it more flexible, so there may be something there we did not anticipate. If I cannot replicate your issue, are you available for us to call you and walk through it with you?

Certainly. I'm in a class all week, but can find a time if need be. Or early next week we could get together....

Steve,

Let's do it sometime next week when it is more convenient for you. BTW, you may see my post from earlier today on a (relatively) obscure Undo bug item. FWIW, you may want to get the latest update. It is not on our web site for manual download as it is a hot fix item with a few minor tweak items, but you may as well get it whenever it is convenient.

Regards,
