Appraisal for tax purposes-IRS

What's bothered me through this whole thing is that the questioner in this Forum quoted his prospective client as merely saying that the appraisal report was to be "for tax purposes". That's too vague for me. The title of the post was "Appraisal for Tax Purposes - IRS". Still vague. I too, would insist on an engagement letter from the client, after first gaining a good understanding of their objectives.

Once I knew exactly what they wanted, I would find out the specific requirements of the taxing authority or division that deals with that particular issue.

Karl and Pat,

Please, let's not get into personal insults. If you disagree on something, then state your position, and why you disagree. Then allow the other person to state their opinions. Whatever you do please respect the other person's viewpoint even though you disagree with it.

Now back to discussing the original question which was:

Appraisal for tax purposes-IRS
