I received my book order from the Appraisal Institute the other day.

1. Scope of Work
2. Using Residential Appraisal Forms: URAR & 2055 (03/2005 versions)
3. Using the Small Residential Income Property Appraisal Report (03/2005 version)
4. GIS in Real Estate
5. Appraising the Appraisal: The Art of Appraisal Review
6. Guide to Appraisal Valuation Modeling
7. Practical Applications in Appraisal Valuation Modeling

I've read the first six chapters of Scope of Work. Although it is based on the 2006 version of USPAP, I find it a good secondary source with plain english explanations and examples. It also gives me a handy reference for the information I've read in various posts on this board.

Has anyone else read any of these books and if so, which ones did you find particurlarly useful?

I buy at least three new reference texts per year. I find them all useful. Not just AI publications...I buy all sorts of books about appraising, architecture, planning, whatever.

Rufus,

I agree, the Scope of Work book is great. It's full of real world examples!!
Other books that I would recommend is: Valuation by Comparison, Appraising the Tough Ones, and the one I'm reading currently is Land Valuation: Adjustment Procedures and Assignments.

If anyone can recommend another land valuation book, or Website, etc., please let me know.

Thanks.

Just in time for the 13th Edition of The Appraisal of Real Estate. I gave my 12th edition to my trainee so I'll be ordering the new edition on Monday.

The Scope of Work, was a needed change and the particular book was (I thought) well done.

Appraising the Appraisal has been around for awhile, but it has good information.
