I have completed the 90 hours inlcluding 15hrs USPAP through Allied online courses (I know, I know). My question is as follows: I am preparing to take my National exam in October and I have been contemplating taking the 30 hour Basic Appraisal Procedures course offered at the Appraisal Institute in Chicago. What I'm looking to get is the 30 hrs education credit before January 1, 08. so I will be covered for education requirements to take take the certified residential exam when I feel I am ready(maybe within a year of having my license?). I have 2000+ hours experience turned into the state of Wisconsin for review. Do you think this course will be a good review for the national exam as well? Or should I look elswhere? I already have learnappraising.com for practice tests and I am studying my course book from Allied, but as you can imagine I feel like I didn't retain as much as i should have form the online course.

Take another course

You have two projects. Keep them separate. Pass the test and accumulate hours to make the 120 hour minimum that will rise to 200 hours in 2008.

Concentrate on exam prep. Study, make flash cards, practice math, go through 1000 questions etc.

If you want the 30 hours to come under the 120 hours pre 2008 set up, take the 30 hour Residential Sales Comparison and Income Approaches. It will be more of a help to you. Since you have your 2000 hours in, you now have the important ingredient of context and will benefit greatly from any course you take.

Taking the basic course will be redundant and won't help you much with the exam.

Good Luck!

Integrity without knowledge
is weak and useless,
and knowledge without integrity
is dangerous and dreadful.
