With WinTotal and ACI aside, Does anyone have any appraisal software recommendations. I currently use ACI with one of the companies I split fee with but want a good software package to use with my own full fee work that does not cost an arm and a leg.

I like Toolbox. But I am more conservative than a lot of people. I want a software that does only what it is supposed to do. I do not like software that has accounting, antivirus, time management, or bill collecting. I want to be able to fill out a form, have it add and subtract properly, that I don't have to go back and overwrite defaults that I don't like, and allows me a decent amount of boilerplate.

I also refuse to pay hundreds of dollars annually for tech support. To me, if the software is on the market and it crashes or screws up regularly, it is bad software and you should get your money back and go buy something that works without having to call some tech somewhere.

Anyway, I like Toolbox so far....

Have used a few different ones; the very best were in old DOS format-currently using ACI for about six months and found only one flaw so far.
Used Toolbox for a few years, but always had problems and I became the tech to resolve most issues.
Just my opinion, but get a few different DEMO's from various companies and see. Used to use WCA- great product; but not since the big conversion to Windows; cost wise they're all similar if you get the bells & whistle's; a while back someone recomended Homeputer - but I never used them.
Good Luck in your search!

You get what you pay for. People get used to using one piece of software and get real possive with it. I can only say that I am as "State of the Art" as they come with my software and hardware. I have been with ACI for over 10 years and I am generally happy with it. Most of my problems have been user problems. good luck :D

I've only tried a couple but I'm using Appraise-It and I like it.

I use appraise it as well. It used to have lock up problems on my windows 98 and millenium systems but since I upgraded to Windows XP it has been great accept the mouse scroll wheel does not work anymore. Very happy and no yearly fees for support.

Cheers,

Mark

I have been using WCA (www.wca-inc.com) since the old dos days. Great tech support, and no $400 per year fees. I just called or e-mailed the one or two times I had a problem, they charge me $45 per hour/call. Tried a couple others several years back, but didn't like them as much. I am sure things have changed a lot since then, but most in our area use the same software. I use it 1. because I like it and 2. it gives me the capability to share and get data from other in the area that use the same software. Check with others in your area and see what they are using; and are they willing to share data? Just something to think about.
