So are Appraisers retarded?

The OP said free. Why did you all ignore that or not read that or whatever? That’s scary.

Here’s an actual answer from someone that isn’t retarded or read the question.

Nothing is free that will hold that amount of GB. Best bet is a cloud storage like Dropbox, OneDrive, google etc. they can be attached to your directory and drag and drop.

Don’t use carbonite. Take a year to get your files back. Use OneDrive, Dropbox, box, google etc. cost is ~$90 a yr for 1TB+. Vs. slow *** A La mode for $149.

See. That’s an answer.

But hey.....good luck Appraisers and maybe look in the mirror when they turn the lights out on you.

(SOW is 26 pages long....I didn’t read it)

Just like you could t read a simple paragraph idiots.
Are you saying you're not retarded?

OH woooooooooooow Addie, "so appraiserS are retarded".
Generalizing and small minded slamS only make you appear retarded.
Simply, it was a GREAT question of need.
No one here ever reads the entire Thread ! ;)
Are you having "your time"? Need a bottle of Midol?
Come down off that pedestal where we can take you seriously.

Addie is right about one thing. Getting your data back from Carbonite is a slow process.

Since you are talking about your older files just get a couple of flash drives, make redundant copies, and put them in a couple of safe places. If you have a safe deposit box put one there.

Nobody seems to understand this. Archive files can be handled differently from recent files you may need to access.

All my workfiles are copied to multiple backup drives- 2 internal HDDs, 2 usb drives and on an offsite server. 1 usb stays in the fire safe and that has my archived files....usually anything over 6 months old. The other usb is plugged into my pc, backs up weekly, includes recent files and goes in my briefcase whenever I leave the office. My offsite server hosts my website and since my site and email are not very data intensive, the extra space is used to backup all my workfiles. All business docs and 5 years of workfiles including all pics, MLS data, spreadsheets, pdf and xmls of the report and the total zap files is only 28.5 gb. I'm allotted 100gb. It gets backed up weekly as well.

I just so happen to have the space on the server, so I use it for archives as well, however it really isn't necessary. Vault has the benefit of easily copying the zap file which allows you to modify a report, but there's no need to pay their price for it. Copy the zap file from alamode>reports to the workfile and you're good.

Good luck!

2 internal HD backups, 1 off site back up, 2 usb backups and one of them in a fire proof safe? :rof: Dang. Some of you guys take work file retention very very seriously. :)

I have 5 thumbdrives with identical content. I also operate 2 freestanding desktops with the same software, except that I only run my Apex install on one of them. And my cardboard boxes with the workfiles. So simple that even a CG can do it.

I'd like to say it was intentional, but it's more of a case of accumulating drives over the years and not having much else to fill them with.

I just checked on Amazon. You can get a 10 pack of 32 GB flash drives for $33.49. This is cheaper than paying yearly for cloud storage for your archival files. Appraisal files are not that big. You don't need a terabyte to store them.
