That is correct and they have been notified that they must contact all appraisers that have loged onto their unsecured website and warn them that their information may have been compromised. Graham, Leach, Bliley 15 U.S.C. § 68216827) "pretexting" The Act is aimed at Financial Institutions but is assumed to include non-financial institutions that supply services to Financial institutions like Appraisers and AMCs.m2:

Your saying that it is not secure because it doesn't have "http." The website listed above has http before the site name, the same as the appraisersforum. Please explain.

I am on their list and I'm concerned. Just called them to ask about what I've read on here. Guess what, they said if the info I have did not come from them that it was invalid. Imagine that! She really didn't seem to care, but said that the site was secure because they took credit card information? Who knows.

They are mistaken about their security at the Log-In page. They have been warned and they took no effective action, which implies that your identity is of no importance to them and they don’t care if it is stolen. As far a credit card processing is concerned, that is a separate issue and has little to do with Log-In and ID security. Most credit card companies have their own HTML code and the merchant must use it. It is generally secure. They have expressed a lack of concern and lots of ignorance, too. I would ask them to safeguard your personal information, in writting, and if they don't go after them in court. You would win hands down. It is concievable that if a crook knows your Log-In and ID they could log in with you and watch you enter your CC #s, too.m2:

No. It is not secure because it does not have "https". All web pages have "http" in front of them. "http" is the standard for transmitting information on the internet. When you submit info on an "http" page, anybody can potentially access the submitted data. When you submit info on an "https" page, the data is encrypted so that only the sender and receiver can access the data.

The website listed above has http before the site name, the same as the appraisersforum.

Understand that not all pages on a website are going to be secure. Typically, only the pages where critical personal information like credit card numbers, etc are being submitted are secure. The Appraiserloft page shown below is secure for example:

I did some work for them in Memphis. They suck.

After doing two appraisals for them, I called them and asked to be removed from their list of appraisers.

They did finally pay after 9 weeks, but I will never work for them again.

Their low pay meant they were a non-starter with me.
They would send me requests for the far out part of my area and at 60% of the normal fee. I am not that hungry yet!

Thanks blueprint for the info!
