Topic for discussion. What happens when a state appraiser board does not meet the quorum of qualifications for the board members per state law as a regulatory authority requiring a minimum of at least 2 state certified general appraisers and they only have one certified general appraiser .

What happens to what? If I were defending against a complaint before such a board, I would certainly be challenging their authority to act based on that jssue.

Yes. That is a topic of expansion as to their authority and complaints brought before a board against an appraiser

unless you have something dealing with them, who cares. that's what attorney is paid to guess right. anything can happen with any governing body and what they feel like doing to you. either, or, it's always expensive to fight. maybe there is 1 appraiser here with that experience whose wisdom is known

Seems to be a thing these days. NC currently has 4 AI members on their board when the state law says no more than 3 members shall be members of the same professional organization.

You contact the person who appointed them and explain that the board member does not qualify.

In AR they ignore it. At one point they were supposed to be represented by a minimum of CG, CR, and Licensed appraiser and all the members that were licensed were CG... there is a bank, a Realtor, a consumer, and a Senior member requirement as well.

I was watching the interview of Kevin Hart on 60 Minutes. He made the point that he wanted to define his career by what he did, not what others did to his career.

I've seen agencies and boards miss deadlines, fudge the rules, make unsupported conclusions. They are in 'authority' so they don't have to meet the bar. I've always decided to let them know of their failures, but haven't relied on them doing the right thing. I recently had a $30K insurance claim denied. So easy for the insurance company to deny a claim. It took me 4-months, some research, and some letters, but the insurance company ended up paying the claim.

Yes sir, you are correct. Common sense would say that the LAST AI member appointed should not be there. She was appointed by Speaker of the House Tim Moore.

I have challenged TWO appointments in the past, when they were made (before they ever attended a meeting) and they were both "unappointed". They did not meet the qualifications as sated in NC 93e. It was/is nothing personal at all. I simply believe in state boards and commissions adhering to the law.
