I know that there were a couple of other appraisers on here from the Rio Grande Valley. If you haven't seen the news yet today we could get a hurricane by wednesday morning. It is a tropical storm now, but will probably be at least a category 1 by the time it gets here. Just letting anyone know who might not know yet. I guess it formed overnight.

It is currently a tropical storm and has been named Dolly. It has maximum sustained winds at 50 mph and is expected to strengthen overnight. It formed a few days ago in the Caribbean Sea.

I knew there was a disturbance out there, but I woke up today and was like what do you mean there is a tropical storm. I need to watch the news more. I found out when I was trying to set up an appointment for the Island.

By Island do you mean Padre? If so, maybe you can give us an update on what is happening with that multi-million dollar high-rise condo project that is sinking in the sand. There was some news a few weeks ago about them being undecided whether to complete the construction or not. Oh, was that one of your appraisals? (JUST KIDDING!)

Hey, I am your neighbor. I only live about twelve hour+/- drive to NE Texas.

Yep. I am by South Padre. That condominium complex is in a big mess right now. No, I haven't done any appraisals on that one. lol They are suing the people that made the information public apparently from what I have heard. Also, from what I understand they have to completely redo the footings and stuff because they don't go down far enough. There has been stuff going on between them and the city because they built outside the city limits and didn't think they had to follow the local building codes because of it.

So. You are in Longview? Do you know where Gilmer is? My Grandfather was from Gilmer.

The news was calling the project "The Leaning Tower of Padre". I am not an engineer. Can they put a pier deep enough to hold up that type of structure on a sand bar? The news said some bank in Minn. had invested over 100 million into the project.

Yes, I do appraisals in the Gilmer area (Pop. 4,799). It is a nice little town!

Well if you have ever seen anything called anything Morris. That is my grandfathers family.

They can put in footings there that will support it, but they didn't go near deep enough. Probably tried to save money. I don't know if they are going to finish it or not. Last I heard they may have to completely start over to get it built correctly. It is supposed to be an amazing property when completed, but somehow I don't think they think its that amazing right now.
