Usually, you can just ask the homeowner for a copy of their tax records and they will provide them to you. Typically, I go measure the property and once I know what I have, then I start my research. Often, tax rolls and/or information provided by other sources is bogus at best.

One other trick is to try Zillo; if the property was purchased by the government employee within the last few years Zillo will have the old information and provide that when you look up the address.

I have found that going to the record through the GIS map often leads to the information. Use the neighbor's address to get close, then select the subject parcel on the map.

If they have them. After our record was "hidden", I had to produce our apn# for something. Imagine my chagrin when I realized I didn't have a copy of my tax card and couldn't quickly pull it up. Embarrassing when you are an appraiser! :)

Wade,

I have had sucess by going to the Clerk of Court's website for the county in which the person resides and looking them up that way. Usually, just by typing in the persons name I am able to retrieve what I need....at least enough to get the ball rolling anyway.

LOL I basically tried everything listed here and thought "HEY, lets call the property appraiser, there's a grand idea."

I had to get conferenced in with the borrower and lady at the office but she gave me everything.

I guess I need to KISS.

If you ever question the house number and or the street name call the police station and ask for 911 officers, do not call the 911 ask for a 911 test if you are in the property. The enhance 911 system is the authority for location address across the USA.

I am not sure if you have IRIS in jacksonville but you can get the info off their maps with a trick I use. YOu have to enter the address of the property next door. Then on the map select the parcel for your subject and then it will give you a property card for that parcel. IF you enter the property address it will not give you any info?(since the info is blocked). So you have to backdoor it through IRIS maps.

I hope that makes sense.

This may be true only in Florida!?? That is exactly the way I do it down in our neck of the woods.
