AQB Update On Proposed Changes To Appraiser Qualifications

Indeed.

What I want to know is what the "others" who are not part of the "most" should be. Dependent?

You know you look at accountants, most are working at large firms. They work in house. They also have some smaller accounting firms. They also have some independent accountants working from home. I would like to see our model be more similar to that.

Don't you have to chase Ken around.

Now be a good little puppet and do what they tell you.

Why would an independent appraiser go work for some one else. That is half the reason why i got a license. The other half was to collect my fee at the door which they have ruined too.

Back in the day, the majority of appraisers were either trained by banks with appraisal departments or with individual relatively small fee shops of 2 to 10 appraisers. I was lucky to be trained in an office with 9 other appraisers, for four years. It was an ideal training environment, but the fees were there to support that business model. The other appraisers I met who trained with banks also received more than adequate residential training.

We are coming into a period where the business model will be supported again. I am promoting a large local firm model with well paid professionals. It is feasible in some states right now. I am not promoting a Forsythe or any other currently existing staff appraiser model.

I am not saying that you guys are going to go work for someone else or at firms. This is going to take a while. You guys are going to do what you do until you retire. I am saying the next generation of appraisers should be salaried employees at large local firms. All trained in house. We are starting from scratch.

Which dum dums can't figure out C3 or C4. Call Denis.

To the extent that there are other appraisers who share djd's opinions I think it's good for the AQB and ASB to see their thinking. I don't want those boards to ever operate in an echo chamber.

By far, my FAVORITE teaching strategy was to solicit the opinions and reasoning of the loyal opposition so those views could be compared to the party line by way of demonstrating which is more consistent. If I didn't have a djd in one of my groups that forced me to act as my own devil's advocate because having the contrast helped me to better convey the material.

lol arn't you one of the people in the split foyer thread that is confused about how to report the living area of a split foyer? :rof:

The qualified teachers are a joke now. Do they send in undercover agents to make sure they teach them the "party line".

What is worse is the work book. Think about it.

Are you confused about above grave vs below grade. Grade is the ground, just to help you out.
