Copper has a tendency to leech unless treated. Just a FYI

... and are reasonably confident they won't be quickly stolen, then go for it.

Vacant homes are targets for copper thieves. I wonder who would be bold enough to come to an occupied home and take the gutters? Then again, if you live in a secluded lot you might want to consider security for your copper gutters if you chose to go that route (kidding).
