ASA fired off quite the letter

I'll defend the orgs a little, it isn't the orgs fault nothing gets done it's their members and to a lesser extent their lack of members (especially residential).
I remember when Craig Steinley, the head of the appraisal institute, called the appraiser in Marin City biased and then said he knew nothing about the case nor saw the appraisal. What a defender. All he had to do was condemn bias/racism and say he doesn't know details of the case. Seems like the person you would want to lead the Salem witch trials as the judge and jury. Shes guilty!

The most influential members (MAIs) of the A.I. are getting what they want. That's why he's there and marching to the beat of the members who put him there. If the media was full of bias stories about commercial appraisals and if PAREA was aimed at the certified general side, the A.I. would be digging trenches and defending the front to the last man.

MAIs want residential appraisers to be railroaded and have Steinley join in on the train?

Really?
Walk through the house with spongy floors, or uneven floors, and still see no cracks in the foundation, lately? Show up in your photos????

:ROFLMAO: and is that black mold on the drop down tile ceiling in the basement, or just darker colored tiles?

Smell the oil that leaked and soaked in to the concrete basement floor near the heating unit? Or smell the mold in the walls from the last time a water pipe broke, but the the wallboard over the pipe break was replaced and painted?

That's okay, because real people won't live in it. They'll just view their new home on social media, that way they can stay insulated from the termites, carpenter ants, mold and any issues with lingering fecal matter.

That's what buyers want. Something that's just as acceptable to AI that it is to them.

But I won't expect appraisers to reach out to anyone else to point this out, naw, that'd be like having to socialize in public and it's work they won't get paid for.

:ROFLMAO:
Couldn't they get all that from a home inspection?

Kinda depends,
if the "home inspector" might also get the listing, or the buyer, or a referral for another possible listing. Cause it aint like HOs don't know what's going on.

yeah cause it aint like people making $20-$30 on occasional inspections need any other way to make some money to pay their own bills. Well, thank goodness that government enterprises figured out how to preserve the public trust, and keep everyone honest, or, at least those, that doesn't own an AMC or have political aspirations..............

Also AMCs can make it hell for those reporting these things (but I guess thats not just directed at PDCs) but if they are paid $25 and they are stipped (or whatever the term is) to death when they report things like this what do you think they will do next time (assuming they even get another order). Especially with no liability.

and of course, for $25 they are more than willing to go to places where they don't already know anyone, and just like the pizza delivery person, they won't get a "tip" either.

I noticed a little bump, barely noticeable, in a hallway of a house with good river view, so I asked the realtor about it, and was assured it was just a minor foundation problem and it had been corrected. Fast forward two years and I'm in a deposition that also required I revisit the house and its whole foundation was jacked up and in a sea of mud because of springs under the house. The hearing where I testified for 5-minutes had 20 lawyers and staff. The realtor and the owner got sued and paid low six figures for misleading about the 'bump' in the hallway.

Good luck AI with those 'little' things.
