Is this enough to get an FHA appraisal denied? I have asbestos exterior on a property I am interested in, but I need to get a mortgage via FHA.

If the asbestos exterior is in good condition (Not cracked, flaking, etc.), then it is acceptable for a FHA guaranteed mortgage loan.

If the asbestos shingles (I'm assuming that they are shingles) are in good condition there should be no problem. The only time asbestos is a problem is when it gets into the air. asbestos pipe insulation and boiler cement are the problems.

I know nothing about FHA guidelines...are properties in which the asbestos is professionally encapsulated acceptable for funding?

Have you tested the siding to confirm it contains Asbestos?

If it's in good repair FHA is OK with it.
