A client is requesting the assessor's parcel number on an appraisal in Hoboken, NJ. To my knowledge, New Jersey assessors us the Block and Lot identification method as opposed to using Assessor's Parcel Numbers. Am I mistaken? If so, besides visiting the assessor, how would one find this information?

Thanks.

Probably the same place one gets the assessed value!? Does the County have a website? Where do you access info for the public record--can't imagine it wouldn't be there.

Parcel nos.=tax parcel = block & lot.

In our area we reference block/lot or tax parcel # in all of our appraisals.

If you have GSMLS they display assessor's parcel numbers. It's displayed as follows: xxxx-xxxxx-xxxx-xxxxx-xxxx

New Jersey identifies properties by Block and Lot number only. Having used both the New Jersey Block and Lot Number and the Pennsylvania Parcel number systems I think that it is easier to locate a property by Block and Lot.

The so called APN's listed in some MLS systems are made up numbers which contain the Block and Lot numbers, these numbers are not used by assessors. I simply fill in the APN number block with N/A.
