Best and Worst City in Tennessee for Appraisers

I'm interested to see if anyone knows which of the big four cities in Tennessee (Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga) has the smallest ratio of appraisers per capita and conversely which city of those four has the most appraisers per capita.

I'm just interested to hear opinions as to which of the four cities is best for appraisers in Tennessee (as far as volume of work) and which is the worst.

Try going on the Tenn Board of Appraisal. They should list each appraiser by address, county, etc. Arizona's does anyway

Kevin is correct. You can do that search and pull it into a spreadsheet and get all the data you want.

Chattanooga is the worst city: 8,200 appraisers; fees below $150 for 1004. You really don't want to come here. Most appraisers stand on freeway ramps with signs "Will appraise for food" much of the time.

Sounds like you are trying to chase off any prospective appraisers.

A few months ago I spoke with one of our appraisal commissioners. While your topic was not specific to the conversation, he indicated that Nashville was the better city for appraisers regarding fees and opportunity. This was in comparison to Knoxville and Tri-Cities. Hope that helps a little.
