I stop taking credit cards 19 years ago.

Now I need to start taking them. I just signed up for a PayPal business account that allows me to take credit cards .......I hope ???

What is the best way you take credit cards for appraisals. ?????

I got tired of fighting lenders for my fee, after I delivered my work product.
Anyone, at anytime in my State, can Contest a fee applied to their CC, If they are simply "Unhappy" with the value, content, context, comparables, fuzzy photo's, et al. It was costing my company time, money and aggravation to just "Justify" what we did to "TRY" to collect a CC Fee.
Why bother? What we do is not akin to a broken TV.

I have used PayPal for over 20 years to accept payments credit card payments from my customers. Customers don't have to have a PayPal account to pay. I use online payments only since I don't meet my customers face to face. However PayPal offers a device that attaches to your phone where you can swipe cards. Also Square offers a device to attach to your phone..

i call it cad. cash at door. have not had a problem with that way of business.

I'm of the opinion there isn't, but sometimes your hand is forced.

I recently started using Zelle for personal (not appraisal) transactions and I like it. Think it could definitely be used for business. It's between bank accounts in the network, so safer and lower fee. There's also a means for outside network via CC and mobile number. There is no chargeback feature, but there are contesting options which may make it safer for appraisal use.

I just used it for some FB Marketplace purchases and seems to work well. Pretty much instantaneous.

YMMV

I was able to get a Square account and have taken 4 cards so far... So far so good.

I simply bill clients. Never had a bank not pay. And been years since I was stiffed by a private party. I do require a $2,000 retainer on large projects. And some projects are so large I simply send them to a Denver party who does mineral valuations.

Take payments like the scammers do. Have them buy VISA or Walmart gift cards with their credit card.

What's the % take from Square for each transaction?

Like another poster stated, Zelle is really easy and it's free.
